Coventry returns to form with a bang, blasts past Kidderminster Harriers 2-0
Coventry romped home in a comprehensive fashion over Kidderminster Harriers as they defeated their battered rivals 2-0. Leon McKenzie and Leon Best scored a goal each for the winner, consequently securing the team a fourth round berth at the FA Cup.
The match turned out to be a one team affair as Coventry stamped its authority straight away and it remained the story for the day. The only thorn in the flesh in Coventry’s smooth march proved to be Kidderminster goalkeeper Adam Bartlett who made a couple of stunning saves to keep Coventry at bay. It was only because of the outstanding efforts of the goalkeeper that the team managed to stay equal at halftime.
The efforts of Adam Bartlett however proved to be insufficient as Coventry pushed ahead in the 52nd minute when McKenzie scored a ferocious goal from the edge of the penalty area. It was then lest to Best to complete the formalities by scoring a stunning solo goal on the 60th minute.
As expected it was Coventry who took the more aggressive route and was also willing to take the bulk of the risks which ultimately paid them rich dividends. If not for the Kidderminster goalkeeper, the game would have ended much earlier. The goalie made a smart save as early as in the 12th minute when he successfully negotiated a superb header from McKenzie.
The team lead by the charismatic Chris Coleman was always on the money and they didn’t remove their feat from the gear throughout, and kept pressing forward aided by some changes that kept the opponent guessing.
Meanwhile, Mark Yates’ side also made attempts at the goal but they were few and far between. The few they tried were blocked by some smart defending from Coventry. Coventry goalkeeper Andy Marshall also played his part in the victory by making a few smart moves of his own and depriving Kidderminster any opening. In the meantime we can look forward to Coventry’s appearance in the FA Cup, where, if they play like this and train enough on the pitch and at the gym with equipment like the Nautilus NS700 multi-gym, we should expect good things.
