QPR and Burnley slated to appear in a Rematch after playing out a dull Draw

QPR and Burnley will face each other in a replay match later this month, after the two teams played out an insipid draw in their FA Cup third round tie at Loftus Road.

The draw means that the Rangers are still looking for their first win in the competition since beating Luton 2-1 in a replay at a similar stage way back in 2001. Burnley on the other hand, failed to sustain their impressive record against London clubs in cup competitions this season.

The third round has proved to be a real curse for the favourites, with many of them making a hasty exit from the competition. What is a real pity is that this particular match not only produced a shocking result, but the nature and quality of play was insipid to say the least. It would have been far more exciting to watch a FIFA 09 match on the PS3, due to the lacklustre performance by both sides. It was a match that should have been won by Burnley hands down, and by now should have been preparing for their Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Tottenham, which sadly is not the case. Then Rangers also did no good to its reputation as they played like real greenhorns and looked completely disillusioned. Such was the mood and atmosphere at the stadium that given a chance the crowd would have anytime forfeited the match to be at the nearby Westfield shopping centre!

For Harry Redknapp, the Spurs manager, who must have gone crazy at the setback, it is high time that he does some real soul-searching and get his team in shape for next week’s semi-final. One thing though is pretty sure; he is unlikely to discover the winning formula employed by Burnley to dissolve Premier League rivals Fulham, Chelsea and Arsenal this season.
