Crystal Palace manager questions referee’s Fitness and blames him for Defeat

Crystal Palace manager, Neil Warnock, has blasted referee Clive Penton for what he believed was a sure penalty that was denied by the referee. The manager couldn’t believe his eyes when the referee let go Ipswich’s Tommy Miller, who apparently was involved in a serious tackle with Nick Carle. Neil Warnock has reasons to feel aggrieved as at that time his team was trailing 1-2, and a timely intervention would have given his team a wonderful opportunity to draw level. Instead, he and his team had to bear the ignominy of a 4-1 defeat by Ipswich.

It seems the manager took the defeat to heart as he questioned the referee Clive Penton’s fitness levels. To prove that the referee committed a glaring mistake he showed video footage of the incident at the post-match conference, and commented that Miller deserved a red card for the unfair tackle. Warnock said that he was disappointed beyond words, and especially because it came at a time which had a definite bearing on the game. He stressed that, had it been at 4-1, or for that matter 3-1, it could have been acceptable, but 2-1 is just too much.

He also said that if a referee can’t see things from such close quarters it is time he retires for good, so that the game can be played in the right spirit. Or maybe Penton ought to just get a pair of binoculars like the professional Nikon Monarch 8×36 DCF WP. Warnock also said that the association can’t keep on ignoring the mistakes committed by a referee just because he is officiating in his last year, specially pointing towards Penton.

The manager however could find himself in trouble for his unrestrained outbursts with the Football Association, which prohibits members from making instigating and damaging comments.
