Nottingham Forest would really savour their win over Plymouth Argyle, as it helped them to address their poor home record. Until now their performance at home was a real concern for Forest as they have been unable to take advantage of home conditions, that too despite winning the last four away matches on the trot. The result is also a good one for Billy Davies as it was his first home match in charge, and he would be pleased that he was able to remove the shackles.

Nottingham Forest travels nest to Pride Park to participate in the fourth round, and given their impressive away record the camp is quite confident that they can pull it off as well.

Forest is also fortunate to have Davies amidst them as the coach has he shown enough glimpses of class and has a good knowledge of the game. It is under him that players like Robert Earnshaw, who has an awesome pace, are used with more precision and planning. The win at home finally allows fans to sport their Umbro Nottingham Forest Home Shirt without fear of jinxing their team and making them lose. Earnshaw has been a real asset for Forest, since he arrived for £2.65 million from Derby last summer, and has really stamped is class helping the club steer clear of relegation zone, and in the process leapfrogging Derby as well.

However, there have also been rumours doing the round that off late all is not hunky dowry between the coach and Earnshaw, and that a pat from the coach was quite conspicuous by its absence.

The defeat of Plymouth was due to an impressive performance by Earnshaw who put his team ahead, superbly guiding a smartly takes free-kick by an equally impressive Lewis McGugan. The second goal came when the opposition flanks made a mess of an easy clearance to hand Anderson enough space and time complete the formalities.

Meanwhile, coach didn’t give any hint of strain between the player and him. While speaking to newspersons he praised the player and said that he sincerely hoped the player would bring even greater laurels for the team.
