Chris Coleman does not want the Kiss of Death Award: The Championship Manager of the Month Trophy
Chris Coleman of Coventry City appears to be the frontrunner for the award for Championship Manager of the month for February. Coventry City under his management has performed exceptionally well with triumph in the FA Cup against Premier League Rovers. And League wins over promotion favourites Birmingham and Wolves.
The award which is to be announced next week carries with it a reputation as the kiss of death. As a result Chris Coleman has mixed feelings and he is praying to not win the trophy. We can’t help agreeing with him as we don’t anything to jinx Coventry’s current form. If anyone wants to win manager of the month awards then they should play Football Manager 2008;the important thing for Coventry is to win the Cup, not meaningless awards. He also remarked jokingly that he hopes that the trophy is not handed over to him as he does not know what he will do with that.
Coleman informed that his phone has been constantly busy in view of the quarter final at the Ricoh Arena against Chelsea. He further added that he has not discussed the upcoming meeting with Chelsea at all with the players in the dressing room but it cannot be avoided outside as it is not in their hands. He said in the past two days the number of face to face interviews he has had is unbelievable.
Chris said though he has been with Coventry City for the past 12 months but the number of friends he has got in the last 48 hours is amazing. But the manager of this Sky Blues Team wants to focus on maintaining the performance level in the game with Norwich City.
Coleman wants to make sure that the team he picks should be able to deliver the same performance level given by the previous team. He will bring back Scott Dann who has just returned from suspension give rest to Ben Turner the centre-back player presently suffering from a fatigued hamstring. Also David Bell’s return is also expected.
