Mission to save Coventry City FC from its recent Slump

The recently concluded fortnight for the Sky Blues has been very disappointing. Out of the four games played by Coventry City they have been on the loosing side in all the three league matches. It all started on March 4 at the home ground at Ricoh Arena when they lost the Football League Championship match to Sheffield United by a score of 1-2, the justification by Chris Coleman is that it was because of distraction on account of the FA Quarter Final Cup match against Chelsea that they lost focus of the match and lost. The ordeal actually had just started.

This defeat followed another defeat that was supposed to be a big game for Coventry city the FA Quarter Final match was lost by 0-2 to Chelsea on March 7 that might have acted as a de-motivation factor for the team. It appeared that Coventry City was expecting too much and the pressure on the team overpowered their performance that ultimately led to their defeat in the FA quarter final match. After all, expecting CCFC to beat Chelsea would have been in a tall order in FIFA 09, never mind real life. This created a cascading effect and the morale and the confidence of the team has been lost. This is evident from the fact that they have also lost their other two League matches where they have been defeated by Bristol City 2-0 on March 10 followed by defeat on March 14 from Preston North End a team who had won only 2 games in the previous 10 games and had lost all the previous three games.

This is the same Coventry City team who had out of the six games in all the competition bagged four games in the previous month which included convincing wins over Wolves the Championship Leaders, so definitely the Sky Blues have to introspect and besides pinpointing on individual mistakes get to the root cause of the problems. They have to send the Blues to the Sky and get back their confidence and the conviction of winning the matches.
