Relegation fears are still lingering after Doncaster Rovers has blown up their chance of moving closer to safety. In the past 10 years, no team has relegated from the championship league reaching the total points of 53 and a win against Coventry City would have pushed Rovers towards the golden target.

Veteran goalie Neil Sullivan has condemned the Doncaster’s third successive defeat. This defeat means that, Rovers have got only 49 points remaining and are within the touching distance to clinch another season in the 2nd tier of English Football.

Doncaster Rovers took lots of time to settle down into their fluid style of playing while their opposite team Coventry City enjoyed their better opening exchanges and gained a goal in their 20th minute that proved to the winner goal.

Neil Rovers charged himself out of the goal to meet the punt from the Coventry City defence at his corner flag but failed to give a touch and failed to give a good clearance to David Bell. The midfielder from Coventry had to work plenty and brilliantly fired to the net from around 40 yards away and delighted their home fans.

Rovers were unable to find their match in spite of having good possession. Rovers had 2 attempts to score but were denied a goal by the Coventry Goalie. Rovers also threw plenty of forwards and they were having the looks to salvage something from that game. Even Neil Sullivan also ventured in to the Coventry Box thrice for injury time corners. But he was unable to redeem as his team Rovers got defeated. Sadly, despite the victory, the only way Conventry City are going to top the Championship table in 2009 is in the FIFA Manager 09 PC game, otherwise CCFC will have to wait until next year in hopes of a better finish. Nonetheless, the win is definitely a positive one.
