Millionaires battle for Sky Blues

Filed under: City Gossip — admin at 2:14 pm on Wednesday, October 31, 2007

THE takeover of Coventry City Football Club was thrown into confusion last night as two millionaires tabled rival bids for the club and the Ricoh Arena.

ICCoventry have revealed that an investment team including wealthy former footballer Ray Ranson is behind an offer which has the support of the Arena owners ACL.

Mr Ranson attended last night’s Carling Cup clash against West Ham at the Ricoh Arena.

But a second bid suddenly emerged yesterday from the multi-millionaire former Coventry City Football Club chairman Geoffrey Robinson.

Both offers were put before a crisis meeting of the City board yesterday.

According to ICCoventry the Sky Blues are very close to being taken over.

The Coventry Evening Telegraph have said that a group of British investors have come up with a financial offer to take over both the club and the Ricoh Arena worth at least £30 million which will save the Sky Blues from administration.

Although the offer has yet to be formally approved, it is understood to be acceptable both to the club’s bankers, the Co-op, and to ACL, the company which owns the Ricoh.

Is Dowie going for sure?

Filed under: City Gossip — admin at 6:56 pm on Thursday, October 25, 2007

 Iain Dowie

There are a few hot rumours on the grapefine that Iain Dowie is on his way out of the door first thing in the morning (26th October).

It is alleged that he will be going to Leicester City, taking his backroom staff with him.

Earlier on today we heard that there will be a news release in the morning, which was negative so could this be it?

I really hope that this is not true especially if he was to take Tim Flowers with him. He is a city lad born and bred so to leave the Sky Blues to go down the M69 would be the wrong thing to do but at the end of the day it is all about the money.
