Coventry City should just move on

Filed under: Match Reports — Walter at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Disappointment could be clearly seen on Chris Coleman as he remarked that he was totally unhappy with the way Coventry City conceded to the first goal by Didier Drogba of Chelsea. It was in the early first half that Drogba scored his first goal against Coventry that really disappointed Chris Coleman. Drogba was very quick to realise the opportunity when a misjudged header of Ben Turner brought him head on with Scott Dann. He dodged the captain of Coventry City, handled the goalkeeper and before the defenders could rush, placed his left-foot shot high into the net. This gave him his tally in this season to three goals in four games. Finally a decisive second goal by Alex towards the end of the game brought an end of the quarter finals of the FA Cup for Coventry at Ricoh Arena. (Read on …)

Arsenal, who had beaten Cardiff by a score line of 4-0 in the fourth round, will now move on to play Burnley sometime in the first week of March. Is Tony the biggest causality of the weekend Portsmouth loss?

Filed under: Match Reports — Walter at 6:09 pm on Tuesday, February 10, 2009

The guy who was once dumped as a donkey and served a prison sentence for drink driving, had always bounced back to prove he deserved to be on the football field. The same Tony Adams had been shown the door by his owners at Portsmouth. His sacking as the manager of the club was not exactly a surprising news. (Read on …)

Filed under: Match Reports — Walter at 2:14 pm on Thursday, January 29, 2009

Reading got a shot in the arm when a suicide goal from Neill Collins in the very first minute sank Wolves’ boat, and put Reading within two points of the leader. The result of the match played at the Madejski Stadium on Tuesday night has really thrown the championship wide open, and with Birmingham also winning their match at home, the final lag of the championship has all the ingredients to make for a great 100 meter dash. Birmingham left licking its wounds, Blackpool makes merry

Filed under: Match Reports — Walter at 1:24 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Birmingham have only themselves to blame for the sorry state of affairs that they currently find themselves in, as they let go a rare opportunity to move to second spot in the Coca-Cola Championship, when they were beaten 2-0 by a 10-man Blackpool. Birmingham manager Alex McLeish admitted that they were simply not up to the task, and played an insipid brand of football allowing their opponents to win. (Read on …)

Nottingham Forest addresses its miserable Home Record with a much sought for Win

Filed under: Match Reports — Walter at 2:59 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2009

Nottingham Forest would really savour their win over Plymouth Argyle, as it helped them to address their poor home record. Until now their performance at home was a real concern for Forest as they have been unable to take advantage of home conditions, that too despite winning the last four away matches on the trot. The result is also a good one for Billy Davies as it was his first home match in charge, and he would be pleased that he was able to remove the shackles. (Read on …)
